AC Escaldes - Budućnost
Europe - UEFA Champions League, Preliminary Roud, Semifinal
Buducnost Analysis: Buducnost has consistently been the most successful team in Montenegro since the country's separation from Serbia. They have won 6 domestic titles and are now participating in the Champions League for the fourth time. In the past, they have also made several European appearances while competing in the Serbian league, and they even won an Intertoto Cup back in 1981. They narrowly clinched the domestic league title last season after matching the previous champions, Sutjeska, but ultimately proved to be better in their head-to-head matches and dethroned them. During the previous summer, they were eliminated from the Conference League qualifiers in a two-legged tie against Breidablik, a team they are likely to face again in this year's preliminary tournament final. Key players such as Dragojević (GK) and Simić (FW) form the backbone of the team, and they have also represented the national team of Montenegro. They did, however, lose a talented forward, Petrović, who was sold to Romanian club Petrolul. The team is managed by 43-year-old Judović, a coach who emerged from within the club's ranks.
As the Montenegrin champions, Buducnost holds the upper hand in terms of quality and experience in European competitions. The teams from Andorra still have a long way to go before they can be considered strong contenders, especially at this early stage of the Champions League.
