Borussia Monchengladbach – Bayern Munich
Bundesliga Round 3
Monchengladbach, September 2, 18:30 CET
Bayern Munich players have the opportunity to prove all their attacking superiority in Germany on the road, this Saturday in Monchengladbach.
This match against the champions Bayern, at home, could hardly have come at a more difficult moment for Borussia. In the previous round, in Monchengladbach, the home team lost to Bayer Leverkusen 3:0. Before that, in the away game against Augsburg, Borussia played 4:4. Against Bayer, Borussia allowed the opponent as many as 24 shots!
Since the end of May, Borussia has only played one match in which they did not concede a goal, in the national cup against a team from the lower tier of the competition, Bersenbruck. That's just one in nine games.
On the other hand, Bayern plays more and more confidently with the arrival of the English superstar, famous striker Harry Kane. In the previous round in Munich, they defeated Augsburg 3:1, and before that they won a well-deserved away win against Werder 4:0. There are excellent chances that the champions will score at least three goals in this game as well.
The editions during the preparations were also impressive, Bayern beat Liverpool 4:3 at the beginning of August, then they celebrated against Monaco 4:2.
Last season in Monchengladbach, the home team won 3:2 in mid-February. However, in that match, Bayern played with one less player from the eighth minute - defender Upamecano received a red card so early in the game. Even in such a situation with one less player, Bayern was a more dangerous opponent.
One gets the impression that the current Bayern team is better compared to the one from the previous season, in the sense that it has options on the field that will convert a large number of chances and shots in a better way.
Gerardo Seoane, the new coach of Borussia Monchengladbach, is in an unenviable situation. It is unlikely that his team will manage to achieve the first triumph of the Bundesliga season before the international break. However, knowing what his game philosophy is, Borussia will not be overly defensive against the absolute favorites. A potential scenario is a large number of goals already in the first half.
The big problem for Borussia are injuries: the team will not count on players like Elvedi, Netz, Kramer, Kone and Wolf. A special shock for the club is the illness of important player Stefan Leiner, the big question is when he will return to the field.
Bayern will not count on Sarr, Musial and Guerreiro due to minor injuries. However, the guests have many options in the game, so stars like De Ligt and Muller will almost certainly be out of the starting 11.
With the extremely fast and technically superior Sane, Gnarby and Coman behind striker Kane, Bayern have a great opportunity to achieve another convincing away win in the Bundesliga.
