Brewers - Reds

USA - MLB, Round 1

The Reds' dugout noticed the display on the American Family Field scoreboard on Monday, which seemed to troll Ella De La Cruz, but he remained oblivious to it.

After Joey Wiemer robbed De La Cruz of a leadoff home run on Monday, the American Family Field scoreboard operators decided to have some fun at the expense of the Reds' rookie sensation. However, De La Cruz didn't have much time to look up at the scoreboard during that plate appearance. He quickly responded with a remarkable Statcast-projected 456-foot, two-run homer off the first pitch from Colin area, sending the ball soaring at an impressive 113.7 mph over right-center field.

It appeared that he had an answer for the trolling as his powerful homer even left the ballpark, flying through one of the open window panels. Although it was his sixth home run as a Major Leaguer, it was only his second-longest so far. This was just the latest example of the incredible skills he has displayed since Cincinnati promoted him to the big leagues last month.

The homer gave the Reds a 2-1 lead in the third inning, but the Brewers managed to secure a walk-off win on a Yelich single in the ninth inning. This defeat marked the Reds' latest close loss to the Brewers, as the two teams are closely matched in the National League Central standings. Cincinnati, now with a 2-9 record against Milwaukee, has suffered five consecutive losses against them, with four of the last five games decided by just one run.

The Reds still have two games left to complete the series against Milwaukee, and it remains to be seen if De La Cruz can work his magic to help the team secure a win against their tough opponents.
