Brindisi – Pesaro
Italy – Basketball Serie A, day 3.
Saturday 14/10/23, 20:15 CET
A single point-loss at Tortona's (69-68) is a good benchmark from which Brindisi (two defeats so far) can rebuild their season. Many changes in Apulia, starting from coach Corbani and the impact of two experienced players such as Bayehe and Kyzlink. However, the roster is brand-new, needs time to develop its team identity and in this sense the early elimination from Basketball Champions League can help Brindisi to save some key energies and focus on Serie A. Declared target: their 12th salvation in a row.
No victories so far for Pesaro as well, despite they battled til the end against higher-ranked opponents like Venezia and Brescia in the first two legs. This summer the club has appointed Maurizio Buscaglia as the new head coach, and rebuild the roster around the technical expertise of Scott Bamforth and Ray McCallum. It's an intriguing project, reinforced by the support of one of the most basketball-friendly cities in Italy. If Buscaglia finds players committed enough to absorb his highly tactical game-style, Pesaro in the long period can fight for a place in the playoffs.
Brindisi-Pesaro registers a perfectly balanced record over the last 12 games (6 wins each). Last year, the home factor fell short twice, with two sound victories for the away team. Today, it is not so far-fetched to see an analogous outcome: Brindisi can count on the push of PalaPentassuglia, but Pesaro, altogether, seems to have a slight attitudinal advantage that can be decisive in the last moments of the match.
