Dodgers - Reds
USA - MLB
With six days remaining before the August 1 trade deadline, the Dodgers have wasted no time in displaying their aggressive approach to bolstering their roster. Their recent moves show they are determined to be one of the most active teams before the 3 p.m. PT deadline on Tuesday.
In addition to acquiring utilityman Kiké Hernandez from the Red Sox, the Dodgers have made another significant move by obtaining shortstop Amed Rosario from the Guardians in exchange for Noah Syndergaard and cash. Rosario, a 27-year-old player from the Dominican Republic, brings another valuable right-handed bat to their lineup, particularly useful when facing left-handed pitchers.
Although Rosario has faced offensive struggles this season, he has proven to be a reliable option against lefties with an impressive .816 OPS and an .822 slugging percentage. However, his defensive fit for the Dodgers remains somewhat uncertain. So far, this year, he has recorded a -15 defensive runs saved, making him one of the worst defensive shortstops in the Majors.
Despite their recent trades, the Dodgers are still relying on their talented rookies as they prepare for the upcoming series against the Reds. It will be interesting to see how this series unfolds and if their new acquisitions can make a significant impact right from the start.
