Atp 250 Estoril - Day 3
Garin C. vs. Borges N.
Garin, coming off an excellent comeback victory against Fils, has once again demonstrated the incisiveness and variety of shots that had previously propelled him to be ranked number 50 in the world. However, it must be said that he spent a lot of energy on the court, and today he will face the home favorite who surprisingly won in two very comfortable sets against a rather error-prone Musetti. The odds are all in favor of the Portuguese player, who I believe will clinch the match, perhaps with one set being more closely contested.
Gasquet R. vs. Martinez P.
Here we have two players who are very similar and comfortable on this surface. Both are coming off easy victories against opponents of their caliber. I foresee a hard-fought match that, in my opinion, will be decided more by the return than by the serve, as both players are adept at counteracting the latter rather than forcing it. I expect neither of them to dominate, but in the end, I think the Spaniard may emerge as the winner.
Rudd C. vs. Fucsovics M.
Once again, we have two players who excel on this surface. Rudd, a pure clay-courter, reached the final at Roland Garros for two consecutive years. After an unhappy period on hard courts, he seems to have found consistency on what is his favorite season, namely clay. On the other hand, Fucsovics is coming off a comeback victory against Monfils, who, as I had anticipated, could struggle against this type of player. Having spent a lot of time on court, it remains to be seen how he will react to the continuous variations that the Norwegian tennis player will present to him. Nonetheless, I believe Rudd can emerge victorious, albeit without dominating.
