FC Copenhagen – Midtjylland
Danish Superliga Round 10
Copenhagen, September 30, 15:00 CET
Since the beginning of August, in seven Danish Superliga games, Midtjylland has conceded at least a goal in every game. In previous years one of the best teams in Denmark - now has serious problems in defense.
The champions team, FC Copenhagen, on the other hand, is on a roll. Last weekend, a great victory was achieved away from home, in a direct duel for first place in the table, against Brondby (3:2). It was followed by a 9:0 triumph in the match against lower-tier club Lyseng away from home in national cup game... On Saturday against Midtjylland, FC Copenhagen will certainly play attacking and with more confidence than in previous weeks.
However, Midtjylland is on the rise - so it cannot be said that a victory for the hosts on Saturday is a completely certain outcome. Midtjylland is undefeated in the last five matches in all competitions, and in the previous round of the Superliga they defeated Odense 2:1. Midtjylland will enter the match with FC Copenhagen without injury problems, and the team is definitely playing with more freshness after being eliminated from the qualifiers for the Europa Conference League.
Also, in previous years, Midtjylland knew how to be an extremely difficult opponent for the great rival in Copenhagen. Last season, in October last year, in their duel at "Parken Stadium" it was 1:1. In September last year, Midtjylland won 2:1 at home.
Now it seems that Saturday could see a duel like the victory of FC Copenhagen 4:2 in their match played in May 2021. Especially because the champions are on a scoring spree and will play with less caution in defense, with a more attacking approach, than they would have two or three weeks ago. We will almost certainly see at least three goals in this game, with a potentially exceptional pace of play in the second half.
FC Copenhagen is still not counting on the extremely important Danish forward Andreas Cornelius. The Babacar and Boilesen teams are already out of training for a long time, and the Georgian defender Khocholava is also injured. However, without all those players, the champions managed to get the job done against some of the best rivals in the domestic league in the previous weeks.
The most important thing - FC Copenhagen played against direct opponents for first place, always looking for a goal more. And against Brondby away from home in the aforementioned victory, and in the 2:2 draw away to Nordsjaelland. It is expected that it will be the same against Midjylland and that the Danish football audience will get another extremely interesting derby in an increasingly high-quality domestic league.
