FC Copenhagen – Randers

FC Copenhagen – Randers

Denmark - Superliga, Round 3

FC Copenhagen have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven games. That best speaks of the attacking form of the Danish champions.
The team from the Danish capital is clearly aiming for the third consecutive title, and they achieved two victories in the opening two rounds of the Super League. However, the previous weekend the job was not at all easy: only at the end of the away match against Vejla, Diogo Goncalves scored a goal from the penalty spot and secured a 3:2 triumph.
Now, against Randers, coach Jacob Neestrup's team is expected to demonstrate a better defensive game. Especially considering that it is a home match.
On the other hand, Randers achieved two draws – 2:2 against both Odense and Hvidovra, at the start of the championship. This is a team that has scored at least a goal every time in the last eight games. The team that finished sixth last season (the same position at the end of the previous three seasons!) did not qualify for European competitions, and had more time to prepare for this match.
The impression is that Randers is not a team that knows how to set up defensive tactics against favorites. Therefore, an open match is again expected - with potentially at least three, and probably four goals. However, there is a less certain chance that both teams will score in the match on Saturday - because FC Copenhagen will want to save the net in front of their fans, as a much better team.
Their matches in previous years have traditionally been exciting. Thus, in the previous five duels against Randers, FC Copenhagen has only two triumphs, but also two defeats. Despite not counting on the injured Nigerian midfielder Amoo and Senegalese striker Babacar – FC Copenhagen will have key options on the field. They will feature with the first team after a routine win over Iceland's Breidablik in the Champions League – and will be clear favorites against Randers.
Danish midfielder Frederik Lauenborg is injured for a long time for Randers, and the guests will surely play aggressively from the start and try to show that they are not afraid of the duel against the champions. The team is in a result crisis, they have not won in all competitions since April and the 4:0 triumph against Brondby... Eight games have passed since then, so it is clear that the Randers players are facing pressure, that they must at least manage a solid performance on the road.
Interestingly, against this opponent, FC Copenhagen did not win in their last three games. Their duel in Copenhagen 1:1 played on June 4 was in a relaxed atmosphere. For FC Copenhagen, the 3:1 loss against Randers in August of last year is a warning... That's why the champion's motive for this match and against this rival is clear.
FC Copenhagen have won five of their last six Superliga matches without losing - and they have same performance when it comes to all matches. The impression of the quality of the attacking parties of the favorites is exceptional - and that is the best guarantee of the new spectacle of attacking football in Copenhagen.
