Helsinki Seagulls – Kobrat
Finish Korisliiga Round 3
Helsinki, October 10, 17:30 CET
The Finnish champions Helsinki Seagulls have been allowing their opponents to score a lot of points for the past few weeks.
Arguably the best team in Finland last season and the main candidates for the throne will host a good attacking team Kobrat on Tuesday, in round 3 of the domestic championship – Finish Korisliiga.
Behind the Seagulls was a spectacular attacking match played on Friday – Lahti won 116:108 away from home. Before that, in the first round, they convincingly beat a team that plays significantly slower in attacking maneuvers, Bisons Loimaa, 91:71.
On the other hand, Kobrat, team from Lapua, practically did not play from the end of March and the end of the Korisliiga regular season, until the end of September. The team works better than in the previous season, and the confirmation of quality is the victory over Kouvot 99:86 last Friday.
So far, Kobrat has shown that they are dermined to play attractive attacking basketball and will certainly want to accept the fierce tempo of the game in transition, which Helsinki will impose from the beginning of the match. The team ended a series of seven defeats, counting the matches played in the previous season - and arrives at the match against the absolute favorites relieved.
In the previous season, in December last year, the Seagulls defeated this opponent 103:82 away from home. Previously, in October of last year, Kobrat made a surprise and won in Helsinki 90:77... However, in that period, the Seagulls had not yet fully formed a powerful team that is now and is already in effect for the long term.
It is expected that Helsinki will easily end the series of two defeats against this opponent at home, and we should expect a match like the one from March 2021, when the Seagulls celebrated as hosts 105:88 - or the one from the same period (playoff duels), when the Helsinki team won 117:80.
Local players with great experience playing together, like the excellent shooter Jarvi, the dominant playmaker Rougeau, will be key in the fight for victory. Americans Grant, Coleman and Ohams are performing better for the Seagulls. The last one is particularly interesting, as completely dominant in the rebounds category and therefore unique in the entire Korisliiga.
The Kobrat game depends almost entirely on the inspiration of the excellent shooter Sherman – American managed to hit as many as seven three-point shots against Kouvot in the previous round, and had a total of 43 points. However, the advantage of the Seagulls is a much larger number of quality players, the ability to easily come to fruition in counterattacks, and the stability of excellent athletes under the hoop.
