Italy – Serie A2, Round 16
PINETO-SIENA, 13/01/24
Pineto is facing its eighth consecutive defeat, and despite replacing the opposite player, adapting a wing spiker to position 2, and attempting to acquire a new foreign attacker, they dismissed the coach last Sunday in the hope of changing their fortunes. The dark period seems not to have passed despite multiple attempts by the team. On Saturday, Paris and his teammates, under new coaching guidance, will face a formidable opponent. Siena arrives in Pineto with an impressive record of 4 victories in the last 5 matches and the desire to continue performing well to stay close to the podium. For us, Siena is the favorite due to a superior and more well-rounded roster, but the motivations of an unpredictable team like Pineto make us a bit uneasy. We predict a victory for Siena, but also expect Pineto to secure at least one set.
AVERSA-CUNEO – 15/01/24, CET 15:00
Aversa, already in a rather complicated situation, will host Cuneo in a match that is certainly not among the easiest. Cuneo arrives in Campania with 8 consecutive victories and a firmly established second place. The home team has been struggling to find cohesion lately, losing 3 out of the last 5 matches. We believe the match won't be straightforward, and Aversa might win at least one set, but we also see Cuneo's victory as the more probable outcome.
REGGIO EMILIA-CASTELLANA – 15/01/24, CET 15:00
Reggio Emilia-Castellana is a crucial clash in the context of avoiding relegation. The home team, with 7 points more than Castellana, is currently out of the relegation zone but has the opportunity to widen the gap with the last red position and take a step towards safety. Moreover, the Emilians are called to turn around a dark period with 5 consecutive losses despite market adjustments. We believe that the match against Castellana, although challenging, is the right opportunity for Reggio Emilia to return to victory.
BRESCIA-PORTO VIRO – 15/01/24, CET 17:00
Brescia vs. Porto Viro is, for us, a match destined for OVER. Both teams are in good form, and both will seek to perform well in this direct clash. Only three points currently separate the two teams in the sixth and seventh positions in the group. The two teams share similar motivations, with a balanced mix of youth and experience and a character that rarely allows the sextet to let go. Supporting this argument is the previous encounter between Brescia and Porto Viro in October 2023, which required 5 sets before Brescia emerged victorious. We also expect a long and challenging match on Sunday.
