Italy SuperLega – Round 15

Italy SuperLega – Round 15

20-21 January 2024

MODENA-PERUGIA
Modena-Perugia opens the fifteenth day of the men's Superlega. Modena, which has not shone in this first part of the championship, hosts Perugia, one of the teams most favored for the title, currently chasing the top spot, just three points away and currently engaged in a challenging away match in Piacenza. For us, Perugia is the favorite, with a superior roster, better management of crucial matches, and a disappointing Modena that has so far shown a tendency to falter in important games.

PIACENZA-TRENTINO
Piacenza-Trento is the big match of the day. First against third in a match that promises to be of the highest level. The technical quality on the field is so high that it makes analysis difficult. Games like these stand out on their own, where the difference between victory and defeat is often determined by a few points. We expect and hope to experience a high-level, long, and entertaining match. Our analysis can only be Over.

TARANTO-MONZA
Taranto, in the penultimate position in the standings, hosts Vero Volley Monza, which, after a surprising start to the championship and being in the top positions, now seems to have lost its shine, perhaps due to a physical and mental decline that was inevitable after the first part of the season. The guests' current balance is 4 losses out of 5, and they come to Taranto hoping to perform well to regain confidence and confirm their presence in the hot zone of the standings. The hosts, still stuck at two wins out of 13, seem to have not yet found the piece to restart. For us, this represents the ideal match for Monza, which needs this victory to regain morale and confidence.

LUBE-MILANO
Lube-Milano promises to be a beautiful and intense match. Two very similar teams, currently tied at 25 points each, and definitely direct competitors for the playoffs. Lube, since the start of the championship, has alternated highs and lows, with high-level matches and others where they fell short. Milano, on the other hand, had a difficult start, with key players sidelined, and in the first part of the championship faced considerable difficulties. However, once the starting six was reintegrated, they won 12 out of 14 matches. Milan put things back in order but may have wasted too much energy. In the last 4 games, Porro and his teammates managed to win only once. A difficult and complicated match. Here too, for us, it's OVER.

VERONA-SATURNIA
Verona-Saturnia is one of those matches where we feel we don't need to waste too many words. Verona already has the home advantage, which is significant when the away trip is from Taranto to Verona. Moreover, the home team is in great shape, with four wins in the last five matches, with the only defeat being against the league leaders, where Verona still performed admirably, winning a set. Saturnia, still at the bottom of the standings, has only one victory in the last thirteen matches, with only 4 points and a safety goal becoming increasingly distant. For us, Verona is strongly favored.

CISTERNA-PADOVA
A challenging match between Cisterna and Padova where the three points on the line will be crucial. The two teams are currently only 2 points apart, with Padova chasing. The zone is the relegation zone, and the opponents are the ones they will face in case of a playoff. Padova comes to the match in the worst possible way, losing eight of the last 10. The match will be complicated, one to avoid. We see Cisterna slightly favored, in a match where both teams could win at least one set, and where we believe that the home advantage can make the difference.
