Modena - Piacenza
Italy - Superlega, Playoff, Quarterfinal
Monday April 11, the Modena temple will host the current owners of the Italian cup, coach Botti's piacentini.
After suffering a physical and mental drop due to the lost matches part of the CEV Cup, as well as match 3 and match 4 against the same Piacenza, Modena managed to win 0 to 3 away (+1 Golden Set) against Knack Roseleare, obtaining the CEV Cup and offsetting the game previously lost during match 1. During the latter, Modena was able to demonstrate a relevant personality and a great desire to prove itself. Piacenza was able to grow technically as well, during match 3 and match 4 thanks to Lucarelli and Leal. Nevertheless, I see Modena as winner for the following reasons: Romanó is going through a period where we find him out of shape, and consequently Brizard will put on a game predominantly in position 4, benefitting Modena's block.
Modena can offer a plethora of solutions as concerns the spikers, exploiting especially a marvellous Lagumdja.
Lastly, Modena will play to its advantage the 'court factor', pivotal in such an important match.
