Piacenza - Milano
SupeLega, round 19
Who will make the overtake?
The Piacenza arena will host a crucial match for the Super League standings on February 12th, 2022, with Piacenza at 27 points and Milan at 26 points.
The two teams will arrive on Sunday with different histories; Piacenza will have to bounce back after the bad defeat in France in the Cev cup and the defeat against a tough Perugia, while Power Volley, on the other hand, will come from a crushing victory against Padova with Ishikawa (who has just renewed his contract with Milan0) and especially Patry being decisive in the attack fundamental.
The overall statistics of the season slightly favor Piacenza in attack, while in blocking the advantage goes to the Milanese, in receiving and serving the two teams are equal.
On Sunday, I see Coach Piazza's team as the favorite because the growth of his team, especially against Padova, is evident (with an average of 60% in attack). Regarding the previous lost matches, for example against Verona, they were all close matches, showing that despite the losses, Milan is there and can make a difference this season.
Piacenza, on the other hand, despite having a well-equipped roster to be among the top of this season, never manages to find consistency, with the exception of the impeccable performances of Cuban Simon. The other players do not seem to make a difference, certainly the return of Leal has given a glimmer of hope for the Piacenzans, for example with the hard-fought 3-2 victory against Prisma Taranto (last in the standings), but it is not enough.
Piacenza at home will certainly not give the match so easily to Milano, so we can definitely enjoy 4 or even 5 sets.
