Rangers - Olympiacos
World - Club friendly Games 26/07-2023
Rangers had a trophyless season as Celtic secured the treble. In response, Michael Beale left QPR in late November to assume the managerial position at Rangers, but he couldn't halt Postecoglou's side. Now, Beale is in charge of rebuilding the team, and it's been a significant overhaul so far. A total of 21 players have departed (including those whose loans ended), and the process is still ongoing.
Among the notable departures, Croatian Čolak (E) moved to Parma, Kent (ME) joined Fenerbahce, and Morelos (E) didn't have his contract renewed. On the bright side, the team has made seven additions, with four of the players being free agents. Notably, Jack Butland has been brought in as the main goalkeeper, and Balogun (A), who previously played for QPR, is now back in Glasgow.
In friendly matches, Rangers managed to secure a convincing 2-0 victory against Hallescher (3rd in Germany). However, they faced a 2-1 defeat at home against Newcastle and then bounced back with another 2-1 win against Hamburg.
It's important to note that 38-year-old Steven Davis (M) has been dealing with an injury since last year.
As Rangers enter the final stages of their preparation, they are taking the friendlies very seriously, particularly those played at home. The team is determined to regroup and build a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
