Roland Garros - Day 4

Roland Garros - Day 4

Bagnis F. vs. Mochizuki S.
Bagnis is playing excellent tennis and achieved a significant and unexpected victory in the Argentine derby against Cerundolo, leveraging his experience and putting his opponent in difficulty, particularly with wide serve trajectories to then attack the opponent's weak backhand. He could set up a similar match this round against the Japanese Mochizuki, who surprisingly won against a tired and error-prone Napolitano. Although Mochizuki seems to be adapting well to this surface, the Argentine is favored to win, but he might face some difficulties due to Mochizuki's solid baseline play.

Medjedovic H. vs. Blancaneaux G.
Medjedovic is continuing his growth and comes from a great victory in the Serbian derby against Krajnovic, who despite his experience, couldn't do much against Medjedovic's physical and technical dominance. Medjedovic is always aggressive and incisive from the baseline, seemingly already qualifying for the main draw. However, watch out for Blancaneaux, who has also shown excellent skill and variety, which, along with home crowd support, brought him to the final qualifying round. Both players are solid servers who like to control the game, but Medjedovic's predisposition for such matches could be decisive.

Vacherot V. vs. Harris B.
Players with similar styles and builds, who despite their height move very well on the court. Vacherot struggled in both matches, winning them by the skin of his teeth but finding it hard to close out the matches, relying on opponents' errors. Harris, on the other hand, loves faster courts but managed to recover in difficult moments thanks to a solid serve, allowing him to attack effectively. I foresee a tough match with few long rallies, where both players' serving percentages will be crucial.

Heide G. vs. Gigante M.
Heide, a very solid Brazilian baseline player, is good at driving with his forehand and rarely makes mistakes. He often troubles opponents by breaking the rhythm with alternating drop shots and high, low-weight balls that induce errors. On the other hand, Gigante, although equally solid, has shown a lot of insecurity on serve, making easy errors and giving away too many free points, which could be costly against Heide. It could be an entertaining and hard-fought match, but the Brazilian starts with a slight advantage.

Moro Canas A. vs. Bellucci M.
Both players have similar characteristics and in terms of shot variety, they tend to match each other. Both are well-suited to the surface and perform well in the Challenger circuit, but Moro Canas has recently shown a step ahead of the others in terms of shot variety and physical sharpness. Therefore, I believe the Spaniard will win the match, but be careful not to underestimate Bellucci, who is very skilled and thrives in battle, possibly extending at least one set to a tiebreak.

Virtanen O. vs. Zeppieri G.
Virtanen won a very difficult second-round match against Dominic Thiem, managing the moments of the game very well, serving strongly and varying his shots effectively, pushing his opponent off the baseline and then bringing him forward. Be careful not to underestimate this player, who plays great when he has no pressure as the underdog.
Zeppieri, on the other hand, is a robust player who relies heavily on a strong serve and forehand but struggles with movement and might suffer from Virtanen's constant variations. Despite appearing one-sided, I predict the match to be more balanced than expected.

Diallo G. vs. Ritschard A.
Both players are powerful and base much of their game on their serve and forehand. They are also aggressive in return, preferring to play close to the baseline to command the game from the start without many rallies. I expect a match with few rallies, focusing more on one-two punches, and possible breaks due to the opponent's pressure. Watch out for double faults, which could be significant due to both players' return positions. The match is likely to be balanced, possibly concluding in the third set.
