Sassari – Treviso
Italy – Basketball Serie A, day 3.
Saturday 14/10/23, 19:30 CET
Sardinia is waiting for a win, after the false start that unexpectedly involved Sassari - two clear defeats (against Napoli and Cremona) in as many games so far. This summer the club opted for a radical makeover: apart from Diop, Gentile, Kruslin and Treier, everything is new in Sassari, despite the confirmation of coach Bucchi. Another great shooter such as Vasilis Charalampopoulos has been added to the roster, plus the Nba experience of the forward Alfonzo McKinnie. However, Sassari still have to figure out an effective tactical balance and urgently need to adjust their defensive phase - 98,5 points conceded on average. Hard work ahead.
A lot of changes for Treviso as well, with the cycle of former Brindisi's coach Frank Vitucci started here this summer. The budget of the club remains limited and again the seasonal goal is to avoid relegation. To this end, Vitucci brought from Apulia to Treviso some of his most trusted players - Harrison, Bowman, Mezzanotte - and bets on the overall chemistry inside the roster. So far, two matches and two losses: the fierce resistance demonstrated at Olimpia Milano's is much more encouraging than the following misstep at home against Brescia.
Sassari have won the four most recent home games versus Treviso (81-68 in April, Diop led the tally with 17). Today both teams are in the middle of a physiological adjustment phase, with more fragilities than strengths. Therefore, let's be ready for an unstable match: slightly leaning towards the Sardinians, but where the attacks will prevail over defenses.
